The City is the urban area where the Prologue and Chapter 2 take place. it currently has no known name,but it's most likely New York as maps of areas near New York are seen in the prologue and a building similar to WTC7 is seen on every level set outside. The city encompasses a large metropolitan area, with at least one major port, located near the unnamed hospital. On September 13th, 2013, it was the site of a major terrorist attack. Five days later, it was overrun with a disease and people went crazy and started killing each other.

Prologue: We Have a Situation[]
On September 13th, 2013, SWAT captain Frank Greene, and sergeant Jake Hawkfield have been assigned on a mission to defuse a terrorist attack at the hospital on Third Street North. Jake took up a sniping position on the top floor of an apartment building across the street before storming the hospital. Once all the combatants were neutralized, Jake followed their trail to the sewers via the hospital's basement before tracking them to a mall.
Jake and several members of SWAT managed to evacuate a few civilians while taking out more hostiles, including a Black Hawk. Jake heads for the parking lot before proceeding to chase the soldiers to the lower levels, only to get stopped by a barricade. Jake made his way to the top of the parking lot while engaging enemy reinforcements on the way. However, Frank's helicopter was shot down by an unknown assailant and is presumed dead. Shortly after chasing down the assassin, Jake commandeers a Humvee and storms the lower levels of the parking along with a squad of SWAT. Jake drove right through the barricade and discovers the U.D.R.C.
